Samsung Announces Permanently Free Galaxy AI Features

Samsung relies heavily on Google’s Gemini technology for its artificial intelligence endeavors, but this doesn’t mean they’ve handed over complete control to Google. The company continues to make significant investments in its self-developed Galaxy AI features.

These features, which were introduced with the Galaxy S24 series, include many functionalities like Live Translate, Note Assist, and Browse Assist. Until now, these AI features have been free, but Samsung had previously announced they would only remain free until the end of 2025 and had since remained silent on the matter.

Now, things have become a bit clearer. Samsung has announced that some standard Galaxy AI features will be offered permanently free of charge. In a recent briefing, the company stated that the Galaxy AI features that come with the phone will never be charged for. This finally answers the question, “Will some features become paid in the future?”

AI features that will be free for life on Samsung devices:

  • Live Translate
  • Note Assist
  • Enhanced Zoom
  • Audio Eraser
  • Browse Assist
  • Generative Wallpapers

While this announcement puts an end to rumors about paid AI features, it also raises other questions. For example, will newly added Galaxy AI features be paid? Will there be a tiered subscription model like Google’s? Unfortunately, these questions remain unanswered for now, but Samsung is expected to announce its future plans in this regard.

Furthermore, it’s worth noting that Google’s Gemini-powered AI features are currently also offered for free on Samsung devices. Additionally, those who pre-order the Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 will be able to use Google AI Pro for 6 months free of charge.
